Shaping the future in an ecologically and socially just way
ÖKOBÜRO is working with many other stakeholders to find solutions to enable a socially and ecologically just future in line with the 2030 Agenda.
ÖKOBÜRO is working intensively on ways to shape a just transition to a sustainable world. Social and ecological aspects should always be considered together:
Since 2023, ÖKOBÜRO has been working in this context on topics such as just transition, consumption corridors, the wellbeing economy and many more.
On 25 September 2015, all 193 UN member states came together and adopted the 2030 Agenda, setting themselves the task of achieving 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and “transforming our world” by 2030. ÖKOBÜRO actively advocates for the implementation of these goals through SDG Watch Austria.
The SDGs and their 169 sub-goals address key global challenges, including climate protection and biodiversity, but also strive to reduce inequalities, promote sustainable consumption and production patterns, and much more. The goals should be considered collectively and across sectors, as they are equally important and interlinked. Even though some of these goals may well be conflicting, according to the 2030 Agenda, the achievement of individual goals should not lead to a deterioration in the progress made with others.
Another essential aspect of the 2030 Agenda is that the responsibility for implementation applies to every country in the world and that the national and global levels are strongly intertwined. Austria therefore also has an important role to play in international implementation. This is why the SDG Watch Austria platform has been campaigning for the political acceptance of the 2030 Agenda in Austria since 2017.
As a founding and steering group member of SDG Watch Austria, ÖKOBÜRO joins more than 215 other organisations who are committed to a sustainable future and structures that enable sustainable development.
